Don’t be afraid to let go.
Happy New Year dear YOU!
I missed you! Its been 2 weeks since the last Blog post and it feels strange not to have connected with you.
Thomas and I have been practicing what we preach! We’ve been visiting the elders down in Västra Götaland, reaching out to people who we know may be alone for the holidays and seeing how we could be of service. It was a wonderful close to a productive year.
Life is getting back to normal, thankfully. Thomas will start back to school, the schedule of the every day will resume and I am so ready for it. I do much better with a routine in my life. I know, I know. I DID relax but I have also been wildly planning in my brain. I have so much to be excited about and for me to disconnect altogether, well, that would be nearly impossible for me.
One thing I do love to do while I am on vacation is to read books and articles. I can always improve myself and I love to be inspired by the lives of others who have gone before me and have “braved the wilderness”.
In fact, while finishing up my “Braving the Wilderness¨ book by Brene Brown last night, I read this paragraph and it really struck me. I wanted to share it with you. Its about the human quest for true belonging:
“Stop walking through the world looking for confirmation that you don’t belong. You will always find it because you’ve made it your mission. Stop scouring peoples faces for evidence that you’re not enough. You will always find it because you’ve made that your goal. True belonging and self-worth are not goods, we don’t negotiate their value with the world. The truth about who we are lives in our hearts. Our call to courage is to protect our wild heart against constant evaluation, especially our own. No one belongs here more than you”.
Isn’t that beautifully said?
To accept ourselves for who and what we are, that’s the ultimate gift to give to ourselves. Then we can also stop wasting time trying to be something we are not.
I also read an article that I thought was excellent and wanted to share the link with you. “The 13 things you should give up if you want to be successful.” Catchy title but all of them were good. I have personally struggled with Number 3 for many years and work actively on NOT doing it. It isn’t easy but I am getting there. Progress not perfection, right?
Share your thoughts with me, what do you struggle with? What can you work on this year in order to improve your life? If you had to pick ONE which one would it be? Write me and tell me (firstname.lastname@example.org). I want to hear your thoughts. We can challenge each other!
I loved the tag line on the article, “Don’t be afraid to let go”.
Are you ready? You are not alone… we can “let it go” together.
Cheers to 2018! Exciting times ahead!
